poor possum

I almost felt like crying.

So I was driving home from work around midnight on Sherman Way and Oakdale. I noticed some sort of black figure in the middle of the road. I figured it couldn't be an animal since it wasn't moving. Then I slowed to a stop in front of it. Two words: disgustingly horrible. This poor possum had blood on the side of its head; possibly from a grazed ear or shattered skull. Whatever the injury, it obviously affected its brain since the possum was just crawling around in circles. Seriously, it was disgusting and incredibly heartbreaking at the same time. I wanted to help it. But I couldn't. :[

From the director of Superbad, so I might enjoy it. what can I say? it's cute, quirky, and looks highly enjoyable.

Sunshine Cleaning

I like Amy Adams. And I like these type of movies.

500 Days of SummerNow this one, I reeeaaaally can't wait to see. It's been out in Sundance festivals and stuff, but as for a wide release, it isn't coming out anytime soon( sometime in July, I believe) but seriously, I think this will be one of my next favorite flicks. The leads, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, are incredible actors and I like them. Can't wait. Here's the trailer.

I fcking love the fact that Regina Spektor's "Us" is in the trailer. God, this looks sooooooooooooo good.

asobi seksu @ the troubadour

I didn't take this picture, but I might as well have.

This picture sums up the night. MMmmmm pure bliss of heavy walls of guitars and barely comprehensible sounds of soaring vocals. Being fully aware of the shoegaze( just wiki it) heaven Victoria and I were about to get ourselves into, it only seemed normal to be in the best state to fully appreciate the dream-like, trippy music. So yeah.

Opening bands:

Resplandor, from Peru, were clearly inspired by the early shoegazer bands, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. I was digging them a lot, but I felt some of their songs dragged on for a little too long. Too much walls of guitar gets tiring. Their set 7/10

Then followed a band called Bell. The lead singer is freakin gorgeous. Some good songs but honestly, I just couldn't wait for Asobi Seksu to get on. Bell set 7/10

Yuki Chikudate = the most adorable thing to ever walk the planet. I love this band. Whooo. Good shtuff. There were several moments during the show where I just closed my eyes and lost myself in the euphoric waves of Yuki's vocals and the loud, dissosant sounds of the guitars. My ears kept ringing the entire night. The band busted out "Thursday" out of nowhere. Played one of my new favorite songs from their latest album, Hush, called "Transparence." And ended with "Red Sea" with my lover, Yuki, ending the epic night by taking over the drumset and becoming the sexiest drummer I've ever seen. She really, reeeally gets into it. And I f***ing love it. Asobi seksu set 10/10

I was officially half deaf walking out of the venue.

It's a little too poppy in the beginning for my taste, but it seriously redeems itself at the 2 minute mark. Seriously, the last 2 minutes are the best 2 minutes of the album. kinda.

So I've finally seen both Superbad and Iron Man. I liked them both.

Superbad was very entertaining. I remember back in high school, everyone was always talking about that shit. And I just didn't get it. Well now I know it's only because I hadn't seen it yet. love the vulgarity. good stuff. I really liked Jules. she's like the ideal girlfriend. red heads ftw!




Iron Man was also very entertaining. I've always been partial to Gwyneth Paltrow.

Speaking of superhero movies, apparently many people disliked Watchmen. I've had complaints of naked blue guy and that the movie was too long(3hours) and that it had an excess amount of dialogue. I was told that this movie is not meant for stupid people. Sorry, mainstream America. I was also told to read the graphic novel first and then watch the movie. I think I'll buy it. Barnes & Noble is having a sale on it, so why not.

Movie Brilliance:

I don't know if it happens often, but this sure as hell never happened to me before. So I was working in the concession area(serving popcorn, making drinks, yada yada) and I get this one customer who writes something down on his receipt and hands it over to me then smiles.
He wrote his number, name, and, get this

Maybe I'm just reading a little too much into this. But I thought it was slightly creepy. Oh, also, when I told him I spilled some of his icee he blurted out "Bad boy!"My coworker said I should definitely dial it. just for kicks. Maybe I will. Lulz.

As much as I want to move out. I don't think I'm ready yet. Nor am I financially prepared. But I am considering it. Ok, blondie?

This song has been stuck in my head for days. I always dig Lily's vocals, but I especially dig the satirical lyrics. Sweet sweetness.




Only in retrospect do I realize how amazing The Cranberries really are. I watched Click and this song was Adam Sandler's first kiss song with the beautiful Kate Beckinsale. I forgot their characters' name. This song made the movie tolerable. Good stuff. The 90s were an amazing decade for music, no?
